The operating problem
Important project context is easily scattered across repositories, conversations, and individual memory. A handoff becomes risky when it is unclear which document describes current behavior and which one records an old assumption.
What we built
We developed a repository-based documentation practice with project packets, decision records, ownership context, and links to implementation evidence. Updates travel through the same reviewable change process used for software.
The system distinguishes current state, historical context, and open questions. This makes it easier to resume work without silently treating every past note as an instruction or an accurate description of production.
What the work enables
The internal practice provides a durable starting point for investigation and handoffs. It supports engineering work but is not presented as a separate customer-facing software product.
Useful documentation records not only what is known, but why it is believed and what still needs verification.
