The operating problem

A trade-in is not just a sale in reverse. Staff need to identify what was received, record its condition, determine the agreed value, and connect that intake with the customer's next transaction.

What we built

We implemented trade-in and receiving workflows inside a specialty retail platform. The work connects intake records, product condition, and store-credit handling with the operational catalog.

Validation and transaction handling keep the different steps explicit. Staff can distinguish what has been received from what has been sold, instead of relying on a free-text note to explain the inventory change.

What the work enables

The feature provides a structured operational record for exchanges that otherwise depend on informal handoffs. It is a workflow implementation, not a claim about increased trade-in volume or resale margin.

Reusable lesson

Specialized retail processes deserve their own transaction model, not an improvised checkout shortcut.
